In this blog, I want to dive deeper into how understanding our emotional symptoms after a concussion can help us on our healing journeys. Every emotion has its own frequency, and recognizing where we are on this scale can empower us to make positive changes in our lives.

Concussion and emotional symptoms
For those who have experienced a concussion, emotional symptoms can often be heightened.
Do concussions make you emotional? The answer is yes. At least that was my experience and that of all the other concussion survivors I spoke to.
Many people report feeling more sensitive, irritable, or overwhelmed after a concussion.
These emotional symptoms can stem from the brain's response to injury and the changes in brain chemistry. Understanding this connection can help individuals navigate their feelings during their recovery.

Here’s a brief overview of the emotional scale
Ranging from the most pleasant to the least pleasant emotions:
Love, appreciation, empowerment, freedom
Passion
Enthusiasm, motivation, happiness
Positive expectations, belief
Optimism
Hope
Contentment
Boredom
Pessimism
Frustration, impatience, irritation
Feeling overwhelmed
Disappointment
Doubt
Worry

Discouragement
Anger
Feelings of revenge
Hatred
Jealousy
Insecurity, guilt, feeling unworthy
Fear, sadness, depression, despair, helplessness
How to Use This Scale:
If you're not feeling your best and feel all the emotional symptoms of a concussion, try to identify which emotion you're currently experiencing. Then, see if you can take a step up the scale to a higher-frequency emotion. This small shift can help improve your mood and overall well-being.
